Circular Quay transport cutoffs start from midday
The official Circular Quay west access page now publishes several route cutoffs. These are confirmed for the Circular Quay precinct; the complete citywide transport and road-closure schedules are still due in November.
Train and metro
From 3pm, trains will not drop off passengers at Circular Quay. Use Wynyard or Martin Place and continue on foot. Martin Place Metro is the recommended metro stop.
Light rail
Light rail will not run to Circular Quay from 2pm. After 7pm, south-east light rail services depart from Central only.
Bus
Buses begin relocating to Martin Place from noon and to Hyde Park from 5pm. Continue to the harbour on foot.
Road access
Major Circular Quay roads close from noon, with some earlier closures. Do not plan a taxi or rideshare drop-off beside the waterfront.
Wynyard access after the event is via George Street and King Street. Pedestrian diversions can make the return walk longer than the arrival route. Recheck the final Transport for NSW plan when published.

Taronga Zoo NYE transport restrictions
The official Sydney New Year's Eve page now states that the last ferry to Taronga Zoo leaves Circular Quay at 4:52pm. The public bus that normally meets ferries at Taronga Wharf will not run up to the zoo entrance because of police road closures. Walking up from the wharf is not recommended, and there is no event entry through the Lower Entrance.
Getting home by ferry
Only limited ferries are listed after the fireworks, leaving Taronga Zoo Wharf for Circular Quay at 12:54am and 1:54am.
Bus and car fallback
Buses will run from Taronga Zoo towards Military Road for onward connections. Drivers need a pre-purchased Zoo NYE parking ticket to pass roadblocks and should approach via Prince Albert Street.
